 2016 Preview 


       Macon-East Academy finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 3-8 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AA region two, the Knights earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Macon-East Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Marengo Academy by a score of 60-14.

       No team at Macon-East Academy ever lost more games in a season than the eight they lost last year.

       Since 2010, Macon-East Academy has gone a combined 22-42. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class AA over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 20 seasons, Macon-East Academy has managed to compile a record of 127-93. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA and 13th in the AISA.

       The Knights are led by head coach Glynn Lott who is entering his twenty-first season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 127-93 over the past twenty seasons at Macon-East Academy. Under his direction the Knights have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Lott. Coach Lott led Macon-East Academy to a state championship in 2000.

       Coach Lott's overall record as a head football coach in twenty season stands at 127-93 (57.7%). His 127 wins rank 8th among active coaches in the AISA.

       The Macon-East Academy Knights will play in Class AA region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Knights remain in AA but move from region two over to region one.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Knights will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

       The Knights open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Lowndes Academy on Friday, August 19 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Lowndes Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class A region one. The Rebels closed out the regular season with a loss to Autauga Academy by a score of 55-32.

       Macon-East Academy and Lowndes Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Knights have a 7-3-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2015 with Lowndes Academy winning by a score of 36-28.

In 1970 Monroe Academy won the first championship in the A.I.S.A. by defeating Lowndes Academy 6-0.
